Ganesh Lakshmi Idol Buying Guide: Size, Style and What to Look For
Share
A Ganesh Lakshmi idol is the heart of Diwali puja in most homes, and many families bring home a new one every year. With pairs, single-piece idols and larger sets to choose from, here is how to pick the right one.
Step 1: Decide which deities you want
- Ganesh and Lakshmi: the traditional Diwali pairing. Ganesha for wisdom and removing obstacles, Lakshmi for prosperity.
- Ganesh, Lakshmi and Saraswati: adds the goddess of knowledge. Popular with families with students, and in homes that worship all three on Diwali.
- Ganesh, Lakshmi, Saraswati and Kuber: Kuber is the treasurer of wealth, often worshipped on Dhanteras and Diwali, especially by business families.
Step 2: Pair or single piece?
- Two separate idols let you arrange the deities as your family prefers and are easy to clean.
- A single-piece idol, with both deities cast together, stays perfectly aligned and is easier to move.
Step 3: Choose the right size
Measure your mandir or chowki first. Leave room in front for a diya and a puja thali.
| Idol | Height | Weight | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ganesh Laxmi Idol 3.5" | 3.5 in | 1.204 kg | Wall-mounted and small mandirs |
| Ganesh Lakshmi Pair | 3.5 in | 990 gm | Arranging the deities separately |
| Ganesh Laxmi Idol 5.5" | 5.5 in | 2.777 kg | Floor-standing mandirs, a main idol |
| Saraswati Ganesh Lakshmi Set | 4.5 in | 2.232 kg | Worshipping all three together |
| Ganesh Lakshmi Kuber Saraswati | 4 in | 2.61 kg | Dhanteras and Diwali, business families |
| Laxmi Ganesh Saraswati with Shubh Labh Diya | 2.5 in | 725 gm | Low shelves, an all-in-one Diwali piece |
Step 4: Check the quality
- Weight for its size. Solid brass is heavy. Compare the listed weight with the height; a very light idol may be hollow or a different alloy.
- Detail. Look closely at faces, hands, crowns and the lotus base. Crisp lines indicate good casting.
- Stability. The base should sit flat without rocking.
- Finish. Expect small variations in a handcrafted piece, but no rough casting marks or flaking.
Step 5: Order in time for Diwali
Brass idols are heavy and are packed carefully, so allow for dispatch and delivery time during the festival rush. Our orders are dispatched within 1 to 3 business days and usually arrive within 3 to 7 business days after dispatch.
What to do with last year's idol
Customs vary. Many families keep brass idols permanently in the mandir and worship them alongside the new one. Others follow their family's tradition for idols made of clay, which are often immersed. Brass idols are durable and are usually kept and cared for.
